Story prompt

A new classmate sits alone at lunchtime. You want to help, but you feel shy. What might each person be feeling? What could you say?

Experience and practice

In pairs, take turns being the new classmate and the person offering a welcome. Practise an introduction, a thoughtful question, and an invitation to join.

Action mission

With an adult’s guidance, choose a small act of inclusion: invite someone into a game, welcome a newcomer, or check on a classmate.

Reflection

How did you feel before and after taking action?

What did you notice about the other person?

What would you try again?
